1916 Wall Dogs

This is how 538 Johnson looked in 1916. Looking closely at the tax photos and some other color photos I've noticed the 1916 building has a definitely darker brick then the 1919 extension. The ghost sign, or wall dog mural, is easily read, although I'm not sure if the ENGLANDER word is the logo. I've found a few fonts to experiment with, these signs were all fairly unique, without specific "fonts" used. More likely the painter was more concerned with serif, sans serif, or script. Read about the wall dogs from a real wall dog here. There is a logo on the corner facing Johnson Ave, and also a black stripe street sign for Johnson ave which I will add.

Goldberger's logo was added in the 50s when 538 Johnson became an EEGEE doll factory
